I finally solved my POI icons issue! I'm so happy!!

Yay!

I finally solved the issue I was having with POI icons on my TomTom 2325M. It turned out that, instead of uploading the images into the "POI" section of my TomTom interface (Add Community Content), I was uploading the images into the "Images" section. After doing a lot of searching, I finally found this post on the TomTom Support Forum that solved my issue:

I hope that this post can help others who were having the same problem with getting their POI images to appear and, like me, were tearing their hair out trying to solve it.

Thanks for posting the solution. Glad to hear that you've got it sorted out!

Thanks! I'll give it a try...

Well it isn't for the VIA 1535, but it does mention similar problems. The confusing part is controlling where the files are uploaded to in the VIA 1535 as when using MyTomTom it is an automatic u/l as soon as you select the file. There is no placement/folder option as far as I can tell.

I'll try to follow the procedure exactly ans report back.

FYI... Here's a link to the required OV2TOOLS.zip file:
http://www.oldboy.me.uk/TomTomUpdates/ov2tools.zip

It worked for me

OK I think it's on the way to being solved... The POI image thing is anyway. You need the two files from OV2Tools.zip (DUMPPOV2.exe & MAKEPOV2.exe) and then follow the instructions as per the above link.

MAKE SURE you DO NOT upload your image file into the MyTomTom 'Community images on device' upload it to the 'Community POI on device' area, the same area as the OV2 POI file was uploaded. It should work then.

Now for some reason only some of my third party POI's are 'editable' using the 'Edit POI' selection under 'Manage POIs' in the 'Settings' area of my VIA 1535. Others show as 'No POI found'. Even though they show when I select 'Drive To' destinations by 'POI near you' or 'POI in city', but that is a topic for another thread...

Thanks for taking the time to post your findings. From now on I guess we'll have to be more specific with our TomTom POI advice, i.e.:

  1. The .ov2 (POI) and .bmp (icon) files must have exactly the same name, and
  2. they both have to be uploaded to the same place (the "POI" area/folder).
