Etrex 20 or Etrex 30?

I tried a search for Etrex 30, but it gave me EVERY post with Etrex in it, PLUS EVERY post with 30 in it!

So my question -- what's the opinions on these two models? Is it worth having GLONASS added? How is accuracy? What about Geocaching?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on one or the other.

Thanks,
Earl

plus

You can try this search string:
+etrex +30
It'll narrow down your results.

Still not quite what I was hoping for

I originally tried +"etrex" +"30" and got about the same thing -- EVERYTHING with etrex in it, etc.

Etrex 20 or 30?

I would read all the relevant posts in the GPS forum:

I ordered an etrex 30. Reading a little about the "sticky problem", but I went ahead and ordered.

Let us know how it turns out

Interested in the Etrex 30 myself. We do a lot of hiking and I love geocoded photos from our hikes and road trips. My camera has GPS built in but it has significant limitations that make me think I'd have better luck with an always on logger, plus why not have something with trail and topo maps?

I have had the etrex 30 (with Garmin's NE topos) for a few months now and have taken it on multiple hikes and I have been pleased with it overall. Here are my pros/cons:

Pros:

- Small size, rugged, and non touchscreen (for mountaineering, skiing and other cold weather pursuits a non touch screen for me is a must with gloved hands).
- GPS satellite fix is virtually instantaneous and I even get it in my home which no other gps' ever was able to get (garmin 3490, suunto gps watch, iphone 3,3g,3gs,4,4s, garmin g5, spot, etc.).
- GPS satellite fix is kept in dense trees during hikes
- I have personally not experienced the "sticky" issue however I also do not hike/walk at a speed of several steps per hour.
- Ability to customize almost every screen with data elements you want.

Cons:
- When searching POI.......slow as molasses, so slow its almost unuseable.
- Unable to lock screen (per Garmin this is by design, they only allow their touchscreen gps to lock screen).
- Zooming in/out and scrolling - maps can render slowly at times.
- Some quirkiness with altitude profile scaling (doesn't scale well on the small screen).
