Personal avatar (picture) discussion.

We received an email from jmkthird suggesting we start a thread so that members could discuss or explain their personal avatars/pictures.

We think that's a great idea since we have some really interesting ones out there!

If you have recently changed your picture and are not seeing the new one or if someone else is describing their new avatar and it's not what you are seeing hit F5 on your keyboard to reload the page.

Looking forward to your explanations and/or descriptions! razz

Now have I picture of my new 8-week-old border collie puppy, Tobi.

We had c spaniels since I was a baby (and that was a loooong time ago). After moving back to Cleveland from L.A. in the mid 80's, I rescued an 8 week old Border. She was the smartest dog I had or ever will own. You'll soon realize how lucky you are Tobi picked you.

As far as my avatar, one of these days, I'll actually find the time to ride Route 66.

My Avatar is my husband's car

My husband retired in 2008 and wanted something to keep him busy. My brother had a 1955 Chevy Belair setting in a pasture in Arizona.
We gave him a 56 Chevy (running) in the 1980's so he said we could have the 55. It was only a shell, no engine, no seats, no windows, but no rust as it was from Arizona.

My husband took it off frame and rebuilt the entire car. I helped by upholstering the seats which was hard, door panels and headliner all from scratch. I made my own patterns.

I then help him as the two of us together installed a 454 engine in the car. This was scary at times and not easy. The fenders were already on, and after we got too far to go back we said we should have taken the fenders off before we installed the engine. But for two old people we were proud of ourselves as we did not hurt ourselves installing the engine. To me that was the hardest part.

Avitar explanation -- Involved!

I believe that the 1939 valenced fender Indian chief is one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever built. In 1995,I had a lead on a "basket case", and wife had to common sense to purchase a Honda Shadow Ace and have dealer put a valenced fender kit on it as a birthday present for me (By the way, my Birthday was yesterday..)...
So I had a ride-able bike that slightly looked like a 39 Indian Chief, for a lot less money.... (and I still ride it today)..

I wanted to have a decent Avitar, but am not in the least artistic.
and at a similar thread at dslreports.com I posted this.... A fellow there offered to make one for me....
I sent him the picture of Honda Gastank and Indian Script, and he did the rest!!!

P.S. I know who bought the 'basket case', and to this day... it is not yet complete! (And the wife reminds me of this......!!!)

Mary's suggestion in another thread to reload the page worked fine for me with the Chrome browser. A recent thread had similar issues which may be caused by an ISP caching data and if this is the case, there's not much that can be done except to wait a day or two:
