Having Problems Down Loading Garmin POI Loader????

Im new to all of this... Garmin and Windows 7 trying to download the POI Loader from Garmin site. it says its downloaded but when I try to run it I get a unsupported OS error??? Can anyone please help me with this and make it idiot proof??? Thanks so Much in advance.

I'm surprised

The POI Loader program is so fundamental to this site that everybody has it. Did you try downloading it to your desktop or a folder? Your desktop would be the easier place to put it.
Have any clue what the error message means?

.

Are you downloading POI Loader from here:?

Try RUN instead of DOWNLOAD

From the download link that WAASup posted above click on the blue "Download" in the center of the page. Windows 7 should give you a box asking to download or run the file, select RUN and see if that works for you or if you get the same errors.

Thanks for the help Guys!!!

Yes that is where I was trying to download the poi loader... I have fought this thing all day for some reason. I know XP pretty well but this a new computer with Win 7 and I find im out of my element more times than not for some reason. I tried to save this originaly to a folder and that could have something to do with it, But I keep getting the same thing "Unsupported OS" And it also says requires Windows XP (with version 3 something??? Or Higher) Isnt Windows 7 quote unquote "Higher" than XP Im not real sure why this has been such a monumental task for something so simple. I have hacked around enough to find where windows asks me if I want to change something and it asks me to list the last version that the program worked on before the errors started???? Who knows maybe by daylight I will have figured this out... But I do appreciate the help THANK YOU!

Run as Administrator.

This is probably asking the obvious, but are you logged on as Administrator? Also, you might try right clicking on the install file and select "Run as administrator".

Something tells me that it

Something tells me that it isn't Windows 7 that is causing the problem. What we need to know is what the OP is using for a firewall and antivirus. Current versions of Comodo Personal Firewall and Avast Antivirus for example both include a sandbox function which will prevent programs from running correctly until the firewall or antivirus program is told to allow the program to run normally.

I'm pretty sure I helped someone with this issue a while ago. I'm on the road (FL to AZ) right now, and don't have time to search, but I think the issue with Win7 PCs saying non-supported OS is due to a missing or corrupt Microsoft .NET Framework on the computer--and the .NET Framework is needed for several Garmin programs to run. Can you check to see if your PC has it? Also check for new Windows Updates where you can find and install it. Over time, I've found that missing or corrupt .NET Famework can cause a lots of things to fail--and the error messages are non-existent or misleading in given you directions for a fix.

Maybe someone can search these Factory forums for POILoader .NET Framework wink
