POI Download (thanks)

I am a new member who just downloaded Harley Dealers POI and wanted to take time to thank the member who put the time in to set this up. I do not know if you are allowed to use names but will watch posts to tell him later. RICH

You're welcome. I've put in

You're welcome. I've put in many hours over the past 5 years making these the most accurate I can. Unfortunately Harley switched from a Dealer Locator from which I could capture text of all the dealers' information to one where capture is next to impossible.

I'm now reliant on user input to keep this list updated. Please let me know if you find inaccuracies, new, relocated or closed locations.

POI's

Dave, THANKS A LOT. I am sure my friends and myself will find many hours of enjoyment on this summers trip to the four corners and back stopping at as many HD dealers as we can. Once again THANKS for your time and effort, RICH

I can't imagine why they would shoot themselves in the foot like this.

POI's could only be good for business.

Harley Probably Not Aware of POIs

Chances are, someone upstairs at Harley Davidson hired a web programmer who simply changed the format using some fancy new tool or layout that happened to preclude easy captures. Probably wasn't intentional. You've probably noticed in recent years that the tendency of web sites (programmers) is fancy looking web pages that aren't necessarily user or browser friendly. It's an unfortunate trend.

POI's could only be good for business.

True Value is a horror with their files. Their customer service VP is downright nasty when trying to get information from him about new openings of their stores.

I've never been a fan of

I've never been a fan of Harley's Ride Planner. That is now the interface to their dealer finder. The old way, using Microsoft Services, had a database that MapPoint could access. I'd guess that Harley is saving money by eliminating that outside service. Customer Service takes a back seat to the narrow focus bottom line.

That's odd

Maybe they are secret stores. Seriously, why would someone make it difficult to get information about new stores? Seems kind of counter-productive to a successful business.
