If they're Custom POIs that you had previously loaded, they may still be on your computer and can be reloaded to your nuvi with POI Loader as you did the first time.

If you mean that your kids deleted your Favorites, it's an indication that it's always a good idea to back up your entire nuvi including your added Favorites, Custom POIs, etc. to your computer or to a recordable DVD or something...and that way, when this occurs next time, you can restore them from your computer. If you need help with backups to a PC, let us know so we can help your with Folder Options to ensure that all gets backed up.

I assume you didn't mean that the default POIs from Garmin that are part of the current map you have are gone. That'd also mean it likely that you map is gone as well.

Are you sure that your POIs are really gone and that the kids didn't just turn them off via a nuvi setting?

As Craigw was asking, please let us know exactly what was deleted by your kids and how. Unless you had your GPS connected to your computer at the time, I do not see how they could have deleted POIs.

If all your custom POI's are from this site, you can click on "My Favorite Files" on the right and re-download them, assuming you didn't keep them on your computer.

jg, I see the above is a faq and it refers to #1 as well ( http://www.poi-factory.com/node/30393 ). But for the life of me, these two beginner's faqs seem well hidden. They don't seem to be in the general faq page, the Getting Started page, or the Garmin faq page. I do find them on the alphabetical "all faqs" page but I wonder if TPTB (JM or GlobeTurtle) might want to make them more findable. Heavens, there are seven Beginner's Exercises that I never knew about. I guess I've never needed to search the alphabetical all faqs before and wonder if others may be missing out, too.

JM & I will look through these this week and update or move links as needed.

I found them the same way you did...I was looking for something different though.

Just a suggestion. Each FAQ should have key word first then question.

Example.

Custom pois. How to make custom pois with categories.

Backup. How to back up your GPS files.

Alerts.Wav files with sox.exe.

This way they would be in order. It is a little difficult to find anything now. Should be in the instructions to put key word first.
