It was a test for their new carrier. They always take new air-crafts for test flights before using them. The test hours are normally for about 8-9 hours or more. It was not just fun it was serious business exercise.

Except this one was 19 hours - can't have been fun seeing the same old fields of Iowa and Kansas over and over (and over) again...

I know they have to test flight each and every new aircraft and that it is serious business. Had a friend that use to have to do that for a major airline with each new aircraft they bought. Nothing quite like putting a jumbo jey through stall and recovery testing. But someone was a little creative and having some fun while getting the job done on this flight.
Fun
Some people just know how to have fun with expensive toys.

I glad to see that Boeing
I glad to see that Boeing has a creative sense of humor, and there is still a "ghost in the machine" at such a large organization.
test flight
Yes it was good PR also. Why just look we are all talking about it.
