Version 11.030 - Update

When I turned on my computer this morning (2/12/2012) the resident MyTomTom s/w prompted me to attach my VIA1535TM for the update. As soon as it was recognized by my system, it took me to the TomTom update page w/ a d/l & install icon for the update. D/L & installation took about 2 minutes. The 1535 then rebooted automatically and prompted me to accept the terms and conditions. All went quick and seamless. Since I have a VIA1535TM, which does not include LIVE, there isn't much of a noticeable change.

A lot of people seem to be really stoked by the auto-on feature that turns on the GPS when power is applied to the lighter socket and turns it off when power is removed. That feature doesn't do much for me, but that may be because the lighter socket in my car is not switched by the ignition key, but is always powered.

Personally, I like the ability to see the proposed faster alternative route and decide if I want to take it, although I think the user interface for looking at the route is poorly thought out. In my opinion, they did things backward.

Right now, tapping the "Alternative route available" message jumps directly to the new route, and tapping the traffic bar on the right brings up a screen that shows you the two routes and lets you choose between them.

I think that it would be much more intuitive if tapping the "Alternative route available" message brought up the screen with the two routes, and tapping the traffic bar caused a jump directly to the new route.

With best wishes,

Switched Power Socket.

That is a feature that I do like, but I find myself leaving it on the dash more (more of a theft risk) since I don't have to reach behind it and turn it off anymore.
