POLK CITY --

A red-light camera has helped Polk County authorities put a couple of alleged cattle rustlers in jail.

In December, Ed Harvey Davis, of Auburndale, reported that a number of Hereford cattle were missing from his pasture at the intersection of Mt. Olive Road and Berkley Road near Polk City.

"I just walked up there and seen they was gone," he said. "And I drove all over my pasture and didn't see not tracks and I said, well somebody got my cattle for Christmas."

Polk sheriff's detectives, as part of their investigation, sent out a Crime Stoppers bulletin requesting information about the case.

A week later, Polk Sgt. Tom Glover forwarded a red-light camera violation on U.S. 27 and Holly Hill Road in Hanes City to detectives. The camera captured images of a white 1989 Dodge pickup truck pulling a Gooseneck livestock trailer.
