Is there an easy(quick) way to save your current location in the VIA 1535TM?

On my GO 720 I went into "Quick menu preferences" and ticked "Add position to Favorites". That enabled the quick menu (green arrow on left side of the screen) and when I tap it I have "Add position to Favorites" as one of the options.
One quirk I've noticed is that if I'm "off the road" (e.g., in a parking lot) and I tap
[Quick menu] > Add position to Favorites
my GO gives an error message and refuses to save the location, but if I tap
[Main menu] > Add Favorite > My location
it works. I reported this to TomTom ages ago but I guess it's not a high-priority fix for them.

VersatileGuy took the words out of my mouth.
(And he did a more complete job of it than I would have.)
Like him, I have put the Add to Favorites button on my Quick Menu. I find it is a big convenience.

I really hadn't used the Quick Menu much, so I didn't know it had that option. Done!
