Navigate to Beginning of Route

I have a route programmed in my 855. The first waypoint was still in the distance, so upon selecting that route, I said yes to the "Would you like to navigate to the beginning of the route?"

The nuvi navigated me to the beginning of the route. Upon reaching the route's first waypoint, a popup box said "navigating route" or similar.

But it didn't navigate anything. All navigation was canceled. I later manually selected the same route again and the nuvi behaved properly.

How do I get it to navigate the selected route when it reaches the route's first waypoint? Thanks.

.

Try choosing the last entry (destination). That's what I do, and my 3790 still routes me properly.

855 route

I'm not sure I fully understand your situation, but if you have a pre-planned route and are not starting at the beginning point, you should answer "No" when it prompts "Do you want to navigate to the beginning of the route?" It will prompt you to "Please navigate to highlighted route". You will then need to find your way to the nearest place that you can pick up the route. When you get to the purple line it will start giving you navigation prompts for the remainder of the route.

If I choose the last entry, that it will ignore the waypoints contained in my route! Why does it offer to navigate to the beginning of the route and then ignore the route that you just selected?

A Good question

As I've stated, my 3790 will route me properly either way. But, if I choose the first, then it won't give me the destination arrival time, just time to the next waypoint.

route

I think someone in the software department blew that option. I had a route in my 855 which I started from my home, but when we left we didn't pull the route up right away because we were going to stop for breakfast. When we came out of the restaurant I pulled the route up and it asked me the same question. That would have been about a 2.5 mile backtrack and we would have went right by the same restaurant. I can't see where that option is even needed because from my experiences I have found it will route you to the nearest point on the route and pick it up from there anyway.

Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

Thanks, I'll try answering NO to that question the next time I use a route and see what happens. Maybe it is just another 855 quirk.

(Another quirk is if you put POIs on an SD card, it will ask you if you'd like to load them into the GPS every time you turn it on. If you would NOT like to load them permanently to avoid that prompt in the future, the correct answer is a contrariwise YES, then NO at a second prompt. Strange but true.)

Your 855 did exactly what you told it to do, it just wasn't what you expected. It asked if you wanted to navigate to the beginning of the route. It didn't ask if you wanted to navigate the route from the beginning, it asked if you wanted to go to the start point of your route to which you said yes. The 855 did exactly what you said you wanted, it plotted a route from your current location to the start point of your route and then cleared itself waiting for the next instruction.

Once you reached the start point, then the next operation, as you discovered was to tell it to navigate the route. These units are not sophisticated enough to concatenate routes.
