Unable to get the "GO TO" option from installed POIs on Garmin Nuvi models 1300, 1450, & 1490

I have 5 Garmin Nuvi units, 255W, 750, 1300, 1450 & 1490.

On the 255W and the 750 I have no trouble accessing and routing from my installed "Custom POIs". I simply select one of the custom POIs and I am given options to "map it" or "Go To". Just like I am from the pre-installed POIs.

But in the 1300, 1450 & 1490 I am not given an option to "Go To"??? Here is what happens;

1)I select one of the installed Custom POIs, it maps it and shows distance from where I am.

2)Once it is selected it shows a map of where it is with a window that shows details of address, phone number, distance & speed ( like 0.2 mi, 10.0mph). There is also a option to "Press Here".

3) When you use the "Press Here" option you get a screen that shows all of the above info plus a box with "Mode", "Time to destination", Distance to destination", and "Fuel Costs".

But no where that I can find is there the option to "Go TO" to get a route to get to this destination???????? If I can't get a "Go To" option on these units what use is it to install Custom POIs in the first place???? Am I missing something or is something installed incorrectly????

Also when you do a "Where TO" search of "Points of Interest" does the Garmin NUVI unit include my added "Custom Points Of Interest" in that search???

.

Your custom POI's are located in 'Extras', not the Point of Interest button. Scroll down to see Extras.

Extras, then Custom POIs. I know where they are.....

I hit " Where To" then "Extras" then "Custom POIs".

I have no problem finding them. The problem is I am not given an option to "route to" or "Go To" anywhere from "Custom POIs" lists that I can find in the listed units.

Sorry, I've misunderstood. Try deleting them (using the Loader), and then reloading again on one unit to see if that works.

Try loading your POIs in manual mode. Where THE poi Loader says "Please choose the settings" leave that blank and select NEXT

Hmm

Hmm, I think this issue came up once before but I haven't found the correct search terms to find the thread.

As I remember, the problem was diagnosed and fixed.

Does anyone else remember this? If so, can you find its discussion or remember the solution?

[Update]

Could these help?

Also, I think the answer is "no" to your question "Also when you do a "Where TO" search of "Points of Interest" does the Garmin NUVI unit include my added "Custom Points Of Interest" in that search???"

No Problem Here

I have a 1490 and get the GO on custom and internal POIs. The last firmware update changed the point to get the GO selection when using created routes. You have to select View Map to get the GO.

Have you tried a hard reset?

No problem here either

It's just you.

My guess is you are not installing the POIs correctly.

Try to connect to a PC and manually delete the gpi files without using POILoader. Then, double check the files you want to load.

figured it out with trial & error

Here is what I figured out, For some reason the units would not work with csv1, csv2, ect........as group of POI names.

But when I gave each POI catagory a individual name like WiFi or Wal-Mart it worked. I have no idea why......

numbers in the poi name

Numbers in the poi name is the problem. It takes them as speed or distance measurements. At least that is how I think it works.

Individual file names is better.

You will now have a better way to find what you want and it gives better organization.

Naughty?

Clearly, Santa knew you were naughty and grounded you. You can't go anywhere by GPS till next year. wink

Sorry, couldn't resist. I don't know what to suggest for this problem other than making sure your poi loader and web updater programs are up to date and then running them and see if it helps.

Speed alert = No GoTo

It seems like some of the newer Nuvi modells from US dont show GoTo button if you have speed alert (I dont know about the 2012 modells). The EU nuvis dont seem to have problem with this. Dont know why the different.
Im not quite sure, but I think I read this was fixed in some of the modells by uppdate.

Confirmed on my Canadian 1490 with latest firmware and maps that custom POIs with speed alerts do not display a GoTo option.

Since 1xxx units run the same firmware, it is likely that all these units have the problem.

Speed alerts do display a GoTo on my 760, just as the OP said. On the other hand, red light cameras display a GoTo on both units.

Don't get the Go To button on Custom POI's

I was able to fix the problem on my 1490LMT. I was using the POI files from my 780 model and some didn't work. It was on the .CSV files. Turns out I had added the @25 on the end of each row. This is to add the warning speed or something like that. The ones that worked didn't have the @25 and the ones that didn't work had it. I've removed the @25 using a simple find/replace in notepad and now the .CSV POI files get a GO button when an address is selected.

One more thing. The file name can't have a number in it either. So 1_Walmart.csv won't get a GO button, but Walmart.csv will work.

Never noticed this thread before

Proxmity POIs have never been routable. If you want to get your alerts AND have a 'GoTo' button you will need to enter the point twice, once with the alert and the other without.

Walmart poi "go" button wasn't working.

Good grief this was killing me. I finally deleted the (1) from the file name and it works now!!
