I haven't actually seen a getter price than this on just the maps, but I've seen several alternatives that look even better to me. For example, Best Buy had the 40LM for $84.99 on Black Friday and Wal-mart had it at the same price or less. My understanding from discussion on this site is that one gets a LM card with a GPS that can actually be applied to any Garmin GPS. So for about $20 more you could get a new GPS with current maps and a card that is a prefect replacement for the card you get if you just buy the lifetime maps. Of course, if you don't want another GPS the maps alone would be a little cheaper, but I think the new GPS with new power adapter, new car mount, and anything else you may get is a better deal at only a minimally higher price. I would certainly shop around for a new LM GPS before I shelled out that much for just the lifetime maps.

.

I believe the LM's are tied to the unit ESN itself, and if so, that wouldn't work.

Things may have changed

But, I bought a 765T about a year and a half ago with a LM card and applied it to another unit with no problem (the LM card just had the online code to use).

Not saying it still works that way now, but it did for me then.

it will work

Actually, LM Cards become tied to a ESN once activated to a unit.

Things have changed

Just got an LM50 for Christmas and it is programed into the serial number. As soon as the unit syncs with the site, all information is transfered. However, getting a unit for 99.99 at Walmart (still that price at the store I was at today) is a great deal for lifetime updates.

that is great deal

that is great deal

Thanks!!

I may very well get this deal!

Lifetime Map Deal

When it gets to $40 or less then I will jump.

Thanks
