How do I?

Nuvi 50. Need to set deer lease as a POI. Since lease is in the middle of the country here in NW Texas, how do I establish a destination point without an address to enter?

Coordinates or Browse Map

P.8 of the English owner's manual

Where to -> Browse Map
(might need to scroll down to see this icon)
Zoom out if necessary and drag the map to the area
Zoom in and tap the destination location
Go
(Or Save to use as a favourite)

If you know the coordinates use Where to -> Coordinates

Google earth

Browse map using the GPS map is the best way. The deer lease can be added as a favorite. If it is just open country with no intersection nearby, and you can't see it on the map, use Google Earth. Download it at Google.com. It is a satellite view. If there is a trail or dirt road off the highway you might be able to see it in Google Earth. Mark the point where the trail starts at the highway, the driveway entrance. Then get the coordinates and enter it as a favorite in the GPS.

Or, actually go there, set the location, and save as a favorite.

Go there

I can go there but don't know how to set it as a FAVORITE without an address. I tried Google maps coordinates and couldn't seem to make it work properly. After entering the coords, I found myself lost again.

Nuvi 50 Manual

(This is for when you are actually at the location)
------------------------------------
Saving your location to Favorites

1 From the map, select the vehicle icon.

2 Select "Save Location."

3 Enter a name, and select "Done."

4 Select "OK."

The location is saved to Favorites.

Google Uses Decimal Coordinates

You say you had problems with coordinates. Can you give more detail on the problem?

Google uses decimal coordinates. Garmin gives a choice of degrees-minutes-seconds, degrees-decimal minutes, or decimal degrees. When entering coordinates from Google into your Garmin, press the format button and select h ddd.ddddd to set it for decimal degrees.

Google uses +/- to indicate east/west and north/south, whereas Garmin uses E/W and N/S respectively.

If Google gives you coordinates of 32.74891, -97.32891; enter that into Garmin as N32.74891 and W97.32891.
