My Trends on 2460

Im pretty sure this unit shoul have my trends running on it. I've had the unit for about 2 months and frequently use it on my drive home. It is always taking me on a route that I normally wouldn't take. It hasn't changed at all. Is their a setting I need to make on it, to learn my preferance?

Info In Users Manual

I just bought the unit today so I have no experience with it.

You can download the owners manual here and read about My Trend functions on page 28 (pg 32 when viewing with Adobe Reader)

My Trends

You'll know when My Trends kicks in when you see something at the top of your normal driving screen (not navigation screen) such as "Home 6 miles no traffic" If you then tap this message you will get the custom route you have been taking home. Doesn't seem to make much sense because you know that route anyway. Not sure about the behavior of the other feature, Traffic Trends, since I've always had that turned off. I have turned off My Trends too when I realized it's pretty useless, except for possibly the "no traffic" part of the message.

Not sure

Not sure from your original post whether you have entered a route on your drive home (Where To - Go Home for example). I believe that myTrends will only suggest a route if you have no route inputted. As mentioned, it appears as a suggestion in the green bar at the top of the map screen. I believe this suggestion only appears if you have NO route entered for the Nuvi to route to.

For what it's worth, I've had myTrends turned on for many months and have seen so few suggested destinations that it's always a surprise when one appears. grin

Need to do routes and repeat..

I believe you need to do a route, to say your work, then you need to do a route to home. After doing that several times, the trend will be recognized. It is also based on approximate time of day. If you leave for work at the approximate same time of day, the trend will recognize that and make a suggestion, at other times of the day it will ignore the trend.

Without looking

Without looking at the book I believe it said the destination has to be in favorites.

I haven't used it in a while but I would select home and it would calculate a route home. After several trips it finally chose one road I use but not all.

Sometimes we would go off the route to stop at the store on our way home. I think this only works best when you go the same way several times and never change up anything. Be sure select your destination and make sure the destination is in favorites.

I have used this for several weeks

I have my home programmed and use this option often (no change). I also have my work location programmed and have used this often as well, still doesn't suggest any diffent routing options. I differ everytime from the exact routes that are suggested by the unit. Dunno sad

Works on mine--

When I leave work, after a block or so it tells me how long it will take to get home, and if there's traffic on the route (there usually is, surprise surprise).

More or less same thing going to the salt mines in the morning, telling me how long it will take to get to work.

I haven't done anything to enable or disable it.

Both starting points (home) and end points (salt mines) are stored in Favorites.

First time today

That I've noticed it. It was not being routed at the time, and when I looked at the screen, it said I had 16 minutes to home. Neat.

I guess because I don't work I never go enough to town for it to do this.

The traffic trends was

The traffic trends was disabled as the default on my 2460. If traffic trends is good enough to advertize it, then they should enable it by default.

Traffic Trend

I disabled my Traffic Trend on my 3790lmt. Everytime that I was in heavy traffic it wanted to reroute me.

still not working :(

Since my original post I've re-checked my settings, it is enabled but still haven't noticed it working or announcing anything.

Finally Got It Working

It took me several weeks to figure it out, but I'm not always the brightest when it comes to such things.

If you select a route or a destination from the main ("Where to?") screen, you'll never see it. It will just navigate to whatever target you selected. Try going directly to the map screen and wait a couple of minutes without touching the screen again to see if it shows up.

Also don't forget it is sensitive to the time of day. If you normally run your route at 8 AM you're not going to see it at 3 PM.

not sure how it works on my 2350LMT either but had a trend pop up this week....I was driving on Hwy 400 in the Toronto Area to Vaughan Mills and planned the route from my house. Getting off the highway right before my exit it gave me a traffic trend option of 2 different ways to get to the Mall. One was the way I was going the other was going past the exit and going back North to Bass Pro Mills drive...weird stuff..

.

Maybe you got that option because you went the other way, for something else at one time? Another address, perhaps?

haven't had the unit that

haven't had the unit that long but maybe...odd though I know how to get to the mall but for fun wanted to train the gps to see where it took me. As well, now that I think about it I don't think I have asked for directions to the Mall even coming from the other way. I do pass the Mall and its exit on my way home from work/office most days (going North) so perhaps it recognizes it on my route back? LOL dunno...

Yes following these instructions this morning going to work and not selecting a route gave me the option for my work route.

Happy to hear it worked out.
