Garmin 255/265/275 owners, I need copy language of files from your device pls

hello Garmin nuvi 255/265/275 owners!

decided to start a new thread to get better response.

I am trying to restore all stock selection of languages to my nuvi 275T (I deleted other language files from it in the past).

I would like to ask you to send me a copy of 2 untouched folders from your nuvi 2x5, locations:
a) Garmin\Text
b) Garmin\Help

There is no risk to sending those files to anybody, there is no identifying information, pins, pids, unlocking info or else in those folders. They only contain language files for displayed Text/Keyboard and Help tips.

I cannot restore them on my own, because Garmin WebUpdater no longer shows them available for download. Official Garmin Support also wasn't helpful in helping me get those files back.

My only option is to get a copy of those folders from other fellow forum member being an owner of same family (nuvi 2x5) Garmin device.

You might want to know why I want to restore other languages?
Answer is simple, not everybody on this planet speaks or prefers to speak English (including my family members). besides I am considering to sell the device in future to either North American or European ebay market. It would be nice if the device carried the language spoken by a potential buyer smile

Thanks you for your time and help.

Just to clarify, are we

Just to clarify, are we talking a 2x5 series unit or a 2x5W series? In the case of the help files it may make a difference.

do you have 295W or just 295? wondering if it makes any difference for text positioning and information displayed on screen.

2x5 series (no Widescreen)

sorry, I meant 2x5 series (or T versions for Traffic receiver), but with no W=Widescreen. I have regular size 275T here.

Then unfortunately I can't

Then unfortunately I can't be of service. I only allow widescreen units like the 255W in my household. sad

it's ok, thanks anyways :)

in fact I received files from 255W (thanks GeoC320), I will give a shot to those text and help files after work and see what happens after adding one language from it.

can't hide that I wish for backup of the exact same files I lost (models 265T/275T), but if "W" does the trick (maybe except the Help section coverage) then it's gotta be good enough.

Log on to Garmin

Can't you just use WebUpdater and reload those files?

WebUpdater Doesn't Work

In his first post he already stated that.

It's "conservation of energy." We've only so much and we've finally learned to somewhat control it.

information overload

It has nothing to do with old age or senior moment.

Just like we do everything else, we rush into a judgement base upon a very small portion of the fact, not the whole story.

all worked with 255W files! :) all languages restored on 275T :)

hee hee funny reading this thread smile

don't worry people, all works now! smile

just tested the device with one language (German) from 255W package I received and it fits (per text positioning) everywhere and it seems good.

Then I compared one of two foreign languages I left on my device with those from 255W and files of one were all identical (both Text and Help files of Polish language 275T vs 255W), other lang (Brit Eng) was slightly different (just one gtt file from text folder) and rest was identical too. perhaps there was some WebUpdate I pulled in past, hence the difference. in one file.

I think all language files from 2x5 series are same, no matter if regular/classic or W or T or 255/265/275.

Running WebUpdater again, just in case there were some updates vs the versions I have.

case solved, thanks to everybody who responded! BIG thanks to GeoC320 for prompt reply and copy of files via email! smile :) smile

BTW:
There was a Time Zone map update for my device in WebUpdater, perhaps it fixes the offset time issues.
