seems like Garmin updates are buggy

I updated the 2350LMT because the dashboard said an update was available. After going through the process, restarting the 2350, it was detected and the dashboard said an update was available. Repeat 3 more times, and finally the dashboard said software is up to date.

Now it says another map is available, this would be the 3rd since July? LOL

Don't use dashboard - use WebUpdater

Here at The Factory, it is advised to use WebUpdater for updating nuvi and other Garmin GPS devices rather than dashboard. WebUpdater will let you know what updates are available and lets you pick and choose the ones you wish to install.

Dashboard updates everything available to your unit

I haven't either but I use WebUpdater and just choose what I want to update.

Dashboard updates everything available to your unit including every vehicle, language and voice you do not ever use or need.

they are

As it was said above Dashboard is good example of what is wrong with Garmin software lately. It is good only to check if there are any updates available and nothing more, as if you use it you don't really know what will be done to your device.

On my computer every time I go to Dashboard it want to instal its plugin again and again. Then sometimes it shows that there is firmware update and sometimes doesn't. Regardless that I did update long time ago and for my unit there will be probably no updates anymore.

In conclusion you can use Dashboard to see if there are any updates to firmware or maps, but update itself it's better to do manually with WebUpdater for firmware or manual download for maps update.
