Anyone know how to get rid of the blank panels on the home screen on Gingerbread? It's goofy that I can't figure it out. Chalk it up to a droid newb!
From another droid newbie.
My android tablet has a blank panel on each side of the home screen. They are there to hold additional apps icons or to let you sort your apps into different groups. Maybe that's what your seeing.
Not possible to delete them on my tablet.
Yea, I have 2 to each side of the home screen, 5 in all.
Had to move all my shortcuts 'til I get this straight!
If you truly only want one screen, you need to replace the launcher on the phone with one found on the Android Market. I use Go Launcher EX but there are others like Launcher Pro and ADW. Most replacement launchers allow you to set the number of home screens.
On my device, I have seven screens, of which five are currently in use. The sixth and seventh screens are for future expansion. If I fill those screens, I can make at least two more. With so many screens though, it still only requires a single tap on the home button of my device to send me to my main screen.
Here are screenshots of my device screens: click me. There are a lot more screenshots in the thread.
Looks like it's just want I wanted.
Here are some launcher reviews!
More info yet... always good to have!
Glad I'm not the only one that had to spend time moving shortcuts around.
I'll have to see if any of the suggestions above are compatible with the tablet.
You may have some issues on a tablet, especially if the tablet runs Honeycomb.
Here is one for Honeycomb
That's a theme to make Go Launcher EX look like Honeycomb and not Go Launcher EX itself. However, according to the Market page on Go Launcher EX, it is compatible with 2.0 and up.
