Any Garmin Eco-Route HD Problems? (drain car battery?)

Just took my vehicle in for service this morning and your post reminded me that I didn't unplug the ecoRoute HD device from the OCD port. That's pretty much how much you'll notice the device attached, you'll simply forget it's even there.

Someone must have some other problems for the plug in my car turns off when I turn the car off. I have had my Eco-route HD for almost a year and has not been unplugged yet. It is taped under the dash so for me to get it I have to open the door and get down to unplug it. The only problem I have had is once the Garmin 1490 couldn't find it so I had to reset it. I had put the tape over the button so I retaped it differently.

I've spent a lot of time trying to pair both the Eco-Route and cell phone. It seems to do one or the other. So I settled to just have Eco-Route connected. Anyone else try to pair the two?

You can only pair one device at a time on the nuvi.

I have had an ecoroute with my 1490t some 8 months now, on a 2008 Subaru gtb - and its very unreliable! The connection drops whilst moving, connection at startup is very unpredictable. I have had the ecoroute replaced once already, no change. I try to download a software update for the ecoroute, get a msg "Access denied", nobody ar Garmin support responds to reports of this problem. I love what it does when it works, but the unreliability is driving me nuts.

Is it possible to pair ecoroute HD (for engine information) and an iPhone (for hands-free voice) at the same time? From your posting, I'm think not?

No issues with mine, just a gizmo for me mind you, of no real use to me. Always plugged in. No drain on my Battery's. I have a Diesel...that's why i said Battery's.

I also have a diesel but I don't understand your comment about batteries.

Anyhow, my ecoRoutes HD and cellphone are both paired at the same time with no problems at all.

is saying he heard it can drain the battery in the vehicle. I'm just stating that I have two batteries and have had no problems. If you own a Diesel truck you should know that they better be in good shape because they are not as forgiving as a regular Vehicle.
You cannot start a Diesel with a low battery. The bad one will also drag the good one down.

Rick, most diesel trucks run 2 batteries due to the size of the engine especially the Heavy or Super Duty's, for cold weather starting. It's pretty much standard. Your V-Dub, no.

I answered my own question; it is possible to use both ecoroutehd and an iPhone 4 at the same time...

Have used it for several weeks. No problems. Android and Ecoroute both pair simultaneously. Just wish fuel use was one of the guages rather than being on a separate screen.
