maintaining active status

after achieving active status, what needs to be done to maintain it?

Active / General Maintainer

To maintain active status, you need to have posts in 3 of the last 5 weeks.

For general maintainer status (same benefits), you need to have posts in 9 of the last 26 weeks.

So once you're established on the site, you need to post about every other week or so to maintain a special status.

Just to clarify, paid subscribers have access to the camera files without needing active status.

These are two different ways to the same result.

I frequently forget to post.

So I lose my status.

Participation in Discussion Forum

I check the Discussion Forum on a regular basis but don't participate very often. I am nowhere near as technologically savvy or as experienced as some of the members - but I appreciate their input. I am not really interested in the red light or speed trap files or the debate about them. And, being from north of the 49th, I really don't want to comment on American politics. So that limits my ability to participate rolleyes .

But I do enjoy the Factory, and the requirements to maintain Active status are not really too onerous. So I do submit my comments when I can - like now smile !!

To make it active, even you do not want to participate in GPS related threads, there are easy ways:

For Example,

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/34569

Or you can always post here when you use your GPS,
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/34557

All about is posting as Jonathan said with the sequence: doesn't matter what subject.

Good Luck.

You do not give yourself enough credit. You maintain a number of files and that is appreciated. Just because you do not comment often does not mean that you are not a valuable member - because you are!

File Updates Count Too...

Maintaining files counts toward active status, just the same way as posting in discussion areas. So technically it's possible to keep active status without any posts in the discussion areas.

And there is always this...

Like many, sometimes I just don't have much to add to a discussion one week or another. Visit the "Keeping the windmill alive" threads. Here's the newest one:

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/34280

A quick sentence on how you used your GPS this week is enough to keep your active status going.

work travel

When I'm on the road with work (like the last 2 weeks) it is very hard to keep up with the posts on my phone. I do try during these times to at least log in to see who is being honored with the weekly COW and extend my congrats. After all, I use their files, programs and knowledge daily traveling with my zumo.

Work--

That can be some of the most fun, driving around new areas. A few weeks ago, going to lunch with a client, the GPS calls out "NOW APPROACHING A RED LIGHT CAMERA!"

Wow! how does it do that? Back at the salt mines I showed them this site, and all the useful things you can do with a GPS that you can actually add files to (unlike the ones from the auto manufacturers).
