retarted 855

Well, the old 855 is doing a new trick now, it keeps changing from Jack to Jill's voice. I've had it do it when I've did a reset but never while I have had it in the car using it. It seems like it has something to do with shutting the car off which I could see if the battery was bad but it shows full charge and will run under it's own power.

Jill

That used to happen to me a lot (95% of the time switching to Jill and 5% switching to American English from my chosen voice). Very oddly, after deleting the unneeded foreign language voices, help files, etc. before doing the most recent map update, my non-Jill voice now stays in place. I now have just the 2 American, 2 British and 2 Aussie TTS voices, plus American English non-TTS on my 855 and haven't had a Jill-reversion since deleting the others. I don't understand how my actions could have effected this.

If you haven't tried a battery removal/replacement to reboot the 855, that's worth a try before going the hard reset route.

Of course, when you tell us you've already deleted unneeded voices, you can ignore the above wink In that case, have you recently done a hard reset?

So...is Beloit 2-3 weeks to peak fall color?

gender transformation

Maybe going like Chaz Bono to the other side. wink

I haven't did the battery removal thing yet but I was told holding the switch to the left for at least 8 seconds does the same. I haven't removed any voices yet but when I get off the road I'm going to remove Jill and see what happens. I am also going to try something else before I do a reset. It seems like when I shut the car off and let it time down to a shutoff it changes the voice but doesn't if I tell it manually to shut off. But I have to check this out a little more.

From what they are saying the fall color will peak in our area in late October.

Yet another new trick

While we were on our trip this past week I made a couple of routes with MapSource and sent them to the 855, with no error report. When I went to import each file the 855 reported an error in the file and wouldn't import them. So in each case I held the switch far left for 10 or 12 seconds then went back to import, and again in each case it imported them with no problem. Either I picked up a ghost in Gettysburg or it's time to do a hard reset.
