I go down to Florida on holidays twice a year and came across the following which shows all locations for RLC in Broward, Palm Beach & Miami-Dade counties

After having verified the above locations along with our POI Factory RLC file, I noticed there are more than 100 locations missing. I'll start looking up the first 25 locations for the GPS coordinates but to speed things up I would appreciate if others who want to & and have the time can give me a hand.
Please state in this thread from what number till what number you'll be researching to avoid others in doing the same searches,click on the above link to see precisely in what city the RLC is located and send your findings to JM at http://www.poi-factory.com/user/3/contact so that he can update the file ASAP and avoid some of us in getting tickets.

I would have done it rather than posting this, but my Windows machine crashed and I'm currently running Linux and haven't finished setting it up yet for running Windows progs.
It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

I looked at the map with the assumed RLC locations, the Google map doesn’t show who created it Aug 4 or who did the updated in Sept 14 so I will suggest before expending time gathering coordinates to check with JM and make sure that he will merge those unverified locations with The POI RLC file, then if he is willing to merge those locations help him acquire the coordinates.

and just below the map it states " Red light cameras in South Florida" and clicked on that link and then spent several hours in checking to see which locations were in the POI Factory RLC file and which weren't.
I believe from past experience that the Palm Beach Post is a reliable source of information and the cameras I listed are in fact active and not in our file and should be.

I don't know much about the reliability of the Palm Beach Post or the area in question but here is an example why you can't always trust what you read on the internet.
Check out this map of RLC in my area, it was created by my local FOX channel http://bit.ly/nanM2B I know for a fact that the second location they report having a RLC at Henderson Rd & Linebaugh Ave doesn't have one, I drive by that intersection daily on the way to my daughter's house.

Lets wait for JM to chime in, if he says he will use them I will help you get the coordinates.
Worst comes the worst and he doesn't want to use them because they need to be verified, you can prior to leaving for FL using EPE merge the RLC from POI with the KML file from Google have the whole shebang in your unit.
I just did the merge to try it out for duplicates and it takes less than a minute.

I know there are 3 still missing in Tucson/Pima County
But as above, after the hassel of just trying to get one entered, I will leave it to someone that can verify the other 3. I posted for someone in Tucson to get the other 3 as they are not in my travel area

As stated we need to use our members to verify the locations. I am in Rochester NY and ran across a map a while back that listed 35 RLC's in this city. We only have 11. Looking at this site >>> http://www.redlightcameralist.com/poi/United-States-of-Ameri... there are only 2.
As Flaco said "you can't believe everything you read on the internet". It would be nice to though.

For instance, the City of Virginia Beach, VA lists the intersections that the RLC are at:

Need solid sources
Camera listings compiled by a 3rd party may be useful as a starting point but are not sufficient on their own. They often contain false or misidentified locations.
When I receive this type of report, I only accept locations where the person has first-hand knowledge of the site or where the site is confirmed by a more reliable source.
The best sources come directly from the municipalities. In some cases, recent news reports may also be helpful, particularly when they describe specific locations being installed or removed.
Announcements of planned locations are not reliable. I've seen many examples where locations are announced as "planned" or "under consideration" and then are never installed. For this reason, POI Factory waits until the installation is confirmed before adding a site to the published files. News sources commonly run a follow-up story when this happens.
Eyewitness reports are tricky because it's easy to misidentify other types of cameras or to not see cameras that are at the intersection covering a different direction of travel. Eyewitness reports are handled on a case-by-case basis.
From what I see in the map mentioned above for Broward, Palm Beach & Miami-Dade counties, it appears to be a mixed bag and needs further research.
I'm continuing to identify and review more reliable sources for the area, and I always appreciate receiving notes that help with the process.

They list a few inaccurate locations in the Columbus Ohio area and they are missing some newer ones. It's definitely a good place to start though.

It seems that some members are making an assumption that http://www.redlightcameralist.com/poi/United-States-of-Ameri... is an authoritative site. I can assure you that it is not.
I hope other members with Automated Traffic Enforcement cameras in their immediate vicinity will do what I just did and try to match their personal observations with the data in the poi-factory camera files.
The first thing that I note is that - even though the site calls itself "Redlight Camera List", it includes "speed" cameras as if they were "red light" cameras. This is very misleading in itself.
I also found that the site includes a camera that has never been activated - even though it has been in place since 2007 (I think). Further, the "Redlight Camera List" site has it located one street over from where the non-activated camera really is.
According to this list, there are 15 red-light cameras in my city when there are only 9.

The same way with this company http://www.photoenforced.com/ they are reporting a non existent RLC near me, the same camera that my local FOX channel shows in their map as being there.
They have a link for people to report locations but there are no open discussions as what we have here when we find a mistake in the POI Factory RLC file.
My suspicious is that one of those two companies is selling the KML file to the Palm Beach Post and Fox 13 in Tampa instead of the paper and TV station doing their own research.

I don't think mike430681 was being critical of POI Factory's camera files.
The way I read his post is that he's just mentioning redlightcameralist as a 3rd party source and pointing out that he's noticed it has some problems in his area.

Just want to confirm to Canuk that one of the intersections he reported having a RLC is correct.
This weekend I drove by S Dixie Hwy (US1) and Riviera Dr. and the Garmin RLC built in my 2460LMT alerted to a RLC at that location, I can confirm there is one there southbound on US1 and Riviera Dr. the POI-Factory RLC file is missing that camera.
JM I can vouch there is a camera there and it is working the coordinates are -80.26574, 25.723485
