Garmin firmware (for the 760 series)

I have a Nuvi 765T that has been working very slow for awhile and I finally got around to looking into it. It takes forever to lock on a satellite and pushing buttons has a long lag time. I looked at the firmware I have on the unit, and the GPS is 2.90 and the DSP is 2.40. At the top of the screen it says software version 4.00. I ran the garmin updates and it says its all up to date, but I found an old thread here that shows 4.90 firmware for the 760 series. I downloaded the firmware, but before I install I wanted to make sure this one will work.

The 760 was a prior model to the 765 series

The 760 was a prior model to the 765 series and uses different firmware that will not work for your unit.

Agreed

Yes, just to confirm things, the nuvi 7x0 series uses different firmware than the nuvi 7x5.

The best way to check for updates to firmware, voices, etc. is with Garmin's Webupdater:

760 not the same as 765

I have a 760 and a 765t and I agree they are clearly different. The 765t has the newer lane assist in the upper left corner of the screen that the 760 lacks. The 760 has the road you are approaching at the top of the screen while the 765 shows the road you are on. The numbers are similar but the nuvis are quite different.

Thanks for the comments.. I did the updater from Garmin and the numbers weren't matching... Glad I didn't try to use the 760 FW..
