Hawaii? (will C340 work there?)

My son wants to borrow my Garmin C340 for his trip to Hawaii. Will it work there, or should I say, are there maps of Hawaii on the C340?
Thanks,

the 340

Will work there just fine. What version of maps are on the unit?

As

As Box Car says it will work fine. We've used our Nuvi's there since late 2005 and they have never failed us. Looks like the c340 runs City Navigator North America maps with "full coverage" so that will include Hawaii.

Nuvi 350, 760, 1695LM, 3790LMT, 2460LMT, 3597LMTHD, DriveLuxe 50LMTHD, DriveSmart 61, Garmin Drive 52, Garmin Backup Camera 40 and TomTom XXL540s.

Hawaii

I have a C330 and it worked great.

.

The unit may take a while to acquire satellites (due to the long distance traveled) so you should tell your son that when he first gets to Hawaii he should turn the unit on and leave it in a stationary spot with a clear view of the sky. If he starts driving around before the unit has acquired the sats he may never get a lock.

Oh, and make sure he knows NOT to leave the gps (or any other possessions) in plain sight when he leaves the vehicle. I can't tell you how many tourists get their cars broken into because they leave valuables in their car!!

Which Island?

Which Island? I've never been to Oahu, but it's pretty hard to get too badly lost on any of the others. smile
