Help with custom pois

I just joined the site and i'am astounded by the variety and quality of the poi lists available for download.

Thank you everyone!

I would like to download a couple of lists but I didn't want them to all fall under the category of "Custom POIs" in my nuvii 1490.

Is there a way to create "groups"?

For example I would like to have restaurants show in a separate list from for example "Wallmarts".

I haven't downloaded any lists since I didn't want their contents to become mixed...

Does that make sense?

Thanks

See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25721 that will do what you want.

Actually Quite simple

Create a folder on your PC (for example "My POIs")
Inside this folder create additional subfolders - I will give examples - then put POIs in relative sub folders.

Example

My POIs
> Rest Areas
> RestAreasCombined.csv
> Canada Rest Areas.csv
> Food
> Olive_Garden.csv
> Applebees.csv
> CrackerBarrel.csv
> Shopping
> WalMart.csv
> Macys.csv

You can also put Icons and voice for each of these POI categories such as Olive_Garden.bmp and Olive_Garden.wav.
Excellent FAQs are available here at POI Factory describing these processes.

Then you just point Garmin's POI Loader application to the "My POIs" primary file and it will pick up all valid POI sub files within the main file for loading to your GPS.
