CURRENT.GPX (transfer the Favorites file from nuvi)

Tried to transfer the Favorite file from my 855 to my new 3790lmt. The problem is that I can't find the current.gpx file in the 855. I don't know if I made have deleted it by mistake or not. How do I retrive the file.

cycle the power

The unit should write a copy of the file to the GPX folder if it's missing. Current is only a copy of the data the unit has in protected memory.

Also

Also you can't copy the current.gpx file from one Nuvi to another. Since the Current.gpx file is an output file that gets created each time you turn the Nuvi on, putting that file on another unit will just cause it to be deleted once you boot the new machine.

As has been noted here many times, to copy your favorites from one Nuvi to another you need to take the current.gpx file from the original unit, copy it to your PC, rename it to any name other than current.gpx (try temp.gpx) and then copy the renamed file to the GPX folder on the new Nuvi.

When you reboot the new Nuvi it will take the data in the Temp.gpx file and use it to create a new Current.gpx file which contains your old favorites.

Mapsource

Can you use Mapsource to transfer your waypoints from the unit to your computer?

only in 6/7/8

the problem seems only seen in Nuvi 6XX/7XX/8XX. my 1490T does not have this problem.
with this inconvenience, 6/7/8 are still working very well.

???

A Garmin discussion in TOMTOM TALK?? What am I missing here????

CURRENT.GPX (transfer the Favorites file from nuvi)

I don't show that I have the file "current.gpx" in the 855. If I did I would have made a copy but I don't and can't. Just notice that I also don't have the .system file.

tendriver's right

tendriver's right this whole discussion is in the wrong forum. You should have opened the thread in Garmin Talk, not TomTom talk.

I'm not sure that the 855 has a .system folder. I think that started with the 1xxx models. But in any event unless you have set the Folder View Options in Windows to show all hidden files and folders and to reveal all hidden system files, you will not see the .system folder.

garmin/gpx

On the nuvi 855, the current.gpx file is in folder /garmin/gpx
