You got that right

No surprise. The only way Garmin makes money is to constantly discontinue models and push out "newer" models with a higher MSRP.

I say "newer" with a grain of salt because Garmin really hasn't put out a PND with any innovative features. They just keep recycling features from older models. And before anyone tries to argue with me please tell which which Nuvi model has as many features as a five year old Streetpilot.

Folks we have a "BINGO" please hold all cards for verification.

Garmin has gone down hill hill since they introduced junk Nuvi series.
I have been saying that for years now and always get flamed for it, only because the flamers never owned a feature rich Street Pilot, but only a striped down Nuvi!

Marketing

Any gps needs to be updated by the marketing people periodically. There isn't much new (I mean they give you a lat/long fix), so they have to keep recycling features. There is added fluff, like 3-d graphic views so they have something to talk about on new models.

But, I wish they named "models" for truly different products, and not name it a new model because of an added feature or 2.

I'm Still Happy

I'm still happy with my 760.
In fact, I frequently pull out the Magellan Meridian if I'm going to be walking or biking. Especially in wet conditions.

Discontinued Garmin Models

Two questions:

1: Are all the "linked"models -- the 265WT for instance -- discontinued?

2. Once a model has been discontinued can an owner with a "lifetime" map subscription continue to update his maps?

I think I know the answers to both questions.

Bill

Since my 755t is on the discontinued list, I also wondered about the continued support of my "lifetime" maps.

I don't know the answer!

My 250 was discontinued when I bought it, I have lifetime and have been updating without a problem.

sure it does if you think, your friends asked you for advice, you gave it, if they bought a pnd they would not need another, unless you increase your circle of friends or your friends friends ask your for advice, you should not be asked again.
