Recommend a new Nuvi

Hi everyone,

I've been a Nuvi 350 user for years now and works very well for my needs. What current model would you recommend to a family member/friend?

There seems to be so many models and it's very confusing. If you go for the high end 3790 then you'll read reviews that it overheats and sometimes crashes. My Nuvi 350 has never crashed and I've witnessed a crash on a 755 as a passenger.

TIA,

Ben

Can't find it

There is a link in Garmin that you check off all the things you want your GPS to have and it will show the models that have what you want.
I can't find the link but I have seen it before and I am sure someone on this site will know how to find it.

Try starting with this link

Try starting with this link and select the all the features you want as a starting point. Then you investigate a little further the units that interest you from the units that are left.

I went from a 350 to a 3760.

I went from a 350 to a 3760. There are lots of things I miss about the 350, it's a great little unit. All good stuff in the 3760 (screen) outweighs the new problems it has (lag, occasional stutter, recalc loops in cities, strange auto-zooming and flashing).

The touchscreen and display quality on the 37xx series really has to be seen to be believed.

Mytrends coupled with traffic has saved me three times in recent memory and alerted me to a unexpected jam, without me having to do *anything*. Get in the car, turn it on, and it says "Home: 72 minutes - traffic on 90W" where it normally is 42 minutes. I don't have it reroute me, since I know better alternate routes, but being informed helps!

Thanks

This is what I was looking for.
Thanks

350 all the way!

350 all the way!

Do I need a new one?

Just out of curiosity, I went to Garmin's site and checked off the features that are important to me:
Wide, 4.3" screen
Speaks street names
Guides to proper lane
MP3 player
Multiple stop routing
I was surprised that only one unit came up: the Nuvi 755T.

I was pleased because that's the one I already use in my car! I guess that means I don't have to think about upgrading anytime soon.

MP3 player.

Garmin has abandoned the MP3 player as a feature on all its new models. The 7x5 series is listed as "discontinued", but for some reason it is still included in the selection filter on their web site. That is why the 755T popped up for you.

I wish Garmin would put the

I wish Garmin would put the "Optimize Route" feature on more of it's models, or at least allow me to upgrade my software to support this

I also went from a 350 to a 3760LMT.

The 350 stopped being reliable due to loosing satellites for extended periods of time.

I like several of the features on the 3760LMT... tracks and blue tooth for example. I noticed the stutter on the 350, so it's not new to the 3760. I have noticed the auto-zooming and screen repaint (in 3D mode).

The traffic update seems to have a significant delay in updates... had an instance recently where a route was getting around traffic. I chose to ignore and didnt encounter any traffic problems.

Best Buy has recently had

Best Buy has recently had 3790T's on clearance for $139.99 (usually $400). I just picked one up. This is quite a steal of a deal. I'm very happy with this GPS so far - very slim and light, similar to a smartphone. I'd recommend it.

I've had the 260W for a few

I've had the 260W for a few years, but never really liked it. I recently tried a 1450LMT, but returned it because it didn't have enough internal storage (could not load 2012.10)

I just received my 2460LMT today and it is wonderful. I could not go back to the 1450 or the 260W.

I like my 765t but

I would go with one with free updates when I have to replace. Between buy.com , amazon or costco you should be able to find a good deal. If you go in and delete the extra voices should have more than enough room for poi's
