How do smart phones do for red light cameras?

I have been using a Garmin for several years. I used my non-smart phone for navigation once but purchased a garmin before my next road trip. I like this sites red light camera info and wonder do the smart phones give the same warning?

There's an app for it

On my Android phones (HTC Eris & Thunderbolt), I use an app called Trapster. It allows users to input red light cameras, speed traps, school zones, etc. I believe it has a version for the iphone too. There's also a website for it www.trapster.com that you can peruse. Probably other apps out there as well.

Yes, Yes, And YES AGAIN!!!

There is a APP for That.

Once again,,, the best I have seen is....
RADARDROID

I use it on my Epic 4G, no data or internet connection needed and you can use the files here and customize your sounds and distance.

Navigon

The Navigon iPhone app has red light cameras as an in-app purchase. I haven't used and have no idea how current the info is, or where they're pulling the info from.

Trapster

Hi,

I downloaded the free Trapster redlight camera, speed camera, and combo camera database and put it on my Garmin. I haven't tested it yet, but I can look near home and see some red light camera icon's on the map.

I don't have the poi-factory RLC files yet to possibly compare them.

I downloaded the free Trapster app to my wife's Android phone. It looks like Trapster is completely free. Makes me wonder how Trapster can run a website and do everything for free?

My wife took the Android/Trapster to work and messaged me that its draining her battery. She turned Trapster off and also turned off the phone's GPS - to save battery power.

She drives past a speed camera every day, so I am hoping to hear how she liked it. But it turned out her phone was out of battery power.

Howard you should consider getting a car charger. I have mine's plugged in during a long trip and using Trapster. Trapster is great for a free app. RADARDROID on the other hand the free version has a limited database.

PhantomAlert

I use Phantom Alert on both the Garmin and the smartphone, and it has saved me much grief and agony in pointing out speed cameras and red light cameras ahead of time. If I'm in my own car or truck, I prefer the Garmin, but if I'm in a borrowed or rented vehicle, the smartphone works great.
