Is the screen tmeout the same thing as putting a NUVI 3760T to sleep?

The documentation says if you hit the power button for two seconds it will sleep and the battery will last about a week. Is the same true that letting the screen timeout will do the same thing?

.

Yes. If the unit is running from the battery, the screen timeout will also put the unit into it's low-power "sleep" mode.

Thanks, that may be a good thing. I don't like when you go inside an office and get those lost signal messages.

.

The only way to power off the unit is to press/hold the power button for ~3 seconds to bring up the power-off message and follow the prompt.

Just judging from what my battery is reporting I may never have to power it down completely, unless it start to behave badly.

Actually, I think that over time the first thing to go would be the power button by being used so much. Just letting it to go into standby like a PC cuts button presses in half.
