Does anyone know what brands of GPS use the CSV File for the PIO'S Beside's Garmin Thanks for any input
Note: They use CSV files for POI but not necessarily CSV files of Garmin format.
are csv and gpx formats interchangeable on a garmin nuvi 1200 or a garmin gps in general?
You can use both csv and gpx for Garmin see http://www.poi-factory.com/node/6203 for differences.
The .CSV and .GPX files are not used by the nuvi directly. POI Loader reads the files and converts them to .GPI files. The .GPI files are what are stored on and used by the nuvi.
But, in general, the answer is yes. The files are usable by the different model series in the Garmin product lines.

The data from gpx files can be loaded via POI Loader into a .gpi file and will show up as Extras or you can manually put gpx files in the garmin/ gpx folder on a Garmin unit and the POIs will show up as Favorites.
On units which support Bluetooth (the 1200 does not) GPX files are required to dial phone numbers associated with POIs.
