I think I paid about $350 for mine. This is a good price. By the way, I love my 1690

Had mine about a week same as 1690 only bigger screen added a few extras to it also brought back the cross streets in top bar had the 1690 for about a year than went to the 3790t to many problems with it so far I like the 1695 an that is as cheap as I have seen it sure it will go down soon. Also has almost 4 gb of room on it.

Cross streets in top bar? Wish we could post images here. I'm not sure what you mean?

Gramin Nu Link 1695

Not to good explaining myself the older garmins up to the 750 I believe the green bar across the top would show the next upcoming cross street later gramins show the street you are traveling on when not in a route or going to a saved favorite. the 1695 shows the next street coming up hope this helps.

OK, I see what you mean now. On my 1690, the top bar shows the street you're driving on when in map mode and shows the cross street when navigating.

I wish I had a choice and would like to see the road I'm driving on. Of course that could be handled with the right map zoom level/map detail too.

Apps for the 1695

Garmin is talking about third party apps for this critter. It apparently connects to the wireless network - anyone know anything about that?

What I'm looking for in this next GPS (I have a 255W that is getting a bit long in the tooth and MSN direct is quietly fading away) is tracker app. Something that basically reports the position of the GPS to a website or something.

If anyone has heard anything along those lines, I'd be most grateful to hear about it.

Thanks,
Jerald

nuLink services

If you check the bottom of this link, you'll find the nulink store with a couple of apps that are available for the 1695 (and not the 1690).

I'm not sure what value is in the Safety Camera app since we have POI files that cover that, but the weather app sounds very interesting.

I just picked one up today.

I just picked one up today. I currently also have a 1690. I bought the 1695 for me and gave the 1690 to the wife..Reasons for the purchase include live weather radar maps. (30 day free trial, 1.99/month thereafter) and Ciao. She and I both travel and it would nice to be able to see where she is.

Thought about the 3790 LMT but has no nulink internet with that unit. The nu link system is great because way points can be searched through google which almost removes the need for map updates. Cost is $5/ month after trial period ends. Trial period for 1695 is 1 year, 2 years for 1690

1690 vs 1695

Excellent! I'll be interested to see your comparison of these two units.

So what is CIAO?

I've read the description of CIAO!. What does all that mean?

Ciao= Assuming both units

Ciao= Assuming both units are on >>> Ciao allows each unit to see a near instant (withing a few minutes) view of a street level map of where the other one is. It is not a rolling live map .

How Good is NuLink Traffic?

Does anyone know if the NuLink traffic service is the same traffic service that the Droid phones use on the navigation that comes standard on the Droid phone?
