Four Year Club Membership

WooHoo! My account status just changed to 3 years and 52 weeks. Guess that means I'm just minutes shy of membership in the Four Year Club.

New Kid at

One year and 12 weeks!

I've really enjoyed this forum and constantly recommend it to my RV and truck pals!

Thanks to all who have made it the great site that it is.

Congrats

I only have 3 years, 42 weeks. I will be 4 years soon.

Just adding my thoughts to the pot.

I know being a member for 5 years is like reaching an Elite, and I'm working on it as hard as I can, one day at a time. But would some Incentive be possible ?

We'd have the number of years appear as a badge. And I also recommend that the frist ones clearly illustrate the growing in respect that is deserved for those members smile

The first badge could be diapers or something in that idea, the second badge would be a bit better, and so on.

Oh - and as I recall, our beloved Miss POI has been here for 4 years and 29 weeks. No need therefore to create badges for multiples of five... Or were you trying to create an unreachable target ?

And this also means we only need to worry about a max of five badges for us old badgers - there, I knew I'd manage to place that one in here grin

I'll let you all simmer on that proposal, while I collect the missing eight weeks for my Diapers Badge of Honor. I just can't wait............

I was thinking of a longevity badge that isn't easily attainable and rewards the stalwart supporters of this site for their active participation over a long duration. I thought five was a good number to consider because there seem to be a decent number of people at or over four years who would reach five years during the last quarter of this year. I'm just thinking out loud, the diaper badge and other ideas sound interesting also.

Got 3 years 13 weeks. What

Got 3 years 13 weeks. What do u get at 4 years?

Great....good going

I'm at 3 years and 37 weeks. So got 15 weeks to go. Maybe Miss POI should have a special ICON for people who reach set time anniversaries. Maybe set for 2 years, 4 years and 8 years and higher.

..."3 years and 52 weeks" for the longest time followed by "4 years and 1 hour"...

Plus the satisfaction of spending that time with great people!

Colors

Maybe you could use the same idea as the Ebay stars, by changing the windmill color. Newbies get a green windmill, yellow on their first anniversary, brown on second, red on third, etc.

With that idea, you don't need to add a new badge. Of course if you don't stay active, your windmill doesn't show.

Maybe the badge could have just the number of years for everyone.....mine would be .8

Correct me if I'm wrong

I thought you got recognition here for participation, as in the amount of work you do? Hence the different badges one can get. Poi contributor, Active user, General Maintainer, Moderator and the COW award. Now, I didn't come here for that stuff, its a bonus, but i would still be here if those things were not here. I learn a lot and have some fun. It's free. Isn't this enough? So now i can sit here, active or not for 3 more years and then i'm in the 4 year club, or 1 year or 2 year or 3 year club? I'll pass thank you. I'm glad to be a member of the POI Factory that's good enough for me. I'm glad to help if i can, i'm glad when some one helps me and i'm happy that you people work so hard so that i can have fun with my GPS. With out the Poi Factory i'm not sure I would have learned how much a GPS can do.

Well, that's a TREAT, not a threat ! Just a thought, though, do I really need to wait for the fourth level ? Cuz I'd like to welcome Miss POI (and her family) in our neck of the woods. Have you ever seen the French Riviera ? Well, it's for real in my life.

Miss POI, you've seen my website I imagine. And I'll hopefully get that Diaper Bagde in a few weeks, so let's take that occasion for a meeting over here ? I mean, everybody knows the US, and has been there before - but have you seen the city of Cannes ?

And speaking of awards, the Film Festival will be in May. De Niro will direct this year's celebration, 'nuff said ? What, you talkin' to me ? You F*** talkin' to me ?

About 31 weeks for me to get

About 31 weeks for me to get to 4 years. Time goes fast when you're having fun!

Speed2, you're not wrong at all. This is just a friendly brainstorm from enthusiastic members on what we think would improve and make the site more enjoyable for some. We all come here for different reasons, some strictly for GPS and POI information and others to share thoughts and ideas on a hobby they enjoy within a site that has become something of a family we all want to see succeed well into the future.

Wow! Did not notice that I have been around so long. After reading the above posts, I am a bit worried about any badge for us old geezers.

A 5 year old child will ask his parents how many days are left till Christmas because he or she finds it's taking a long time for that big day.

At 15 years old, life goes by at 15 miles an hour.

At 40 years old, life goes by at 40 miles an hour.

At 60 years old, life goes by at 60 miles an hour. (People often say " Gosh it's already the weekend where did the week go?" )

At 70 years old, life goes by at 70 miles an hour.

A scary thought.

You seem to have misread the intent of my posts. I never said or implied we need a hierarchy to succeed. I saw when entering this thread there was a general enthusiasm to adding something like this longevity based badge and just added my thoughts. I based my views on other things I've seen where people were happy to be recognized for longtime participation and contribution to an organization.

It's fine if the ideas expressed in this thread aren't necessarily for you, but as I've expressed in my previous response to you, different people enjoy this site for different things. Let's embrace the diversity of thought.
