sizlin (used a knockoff motorola charger)

woe is me - i used a knockoff motorola charger instead of the Garmin car adapter because I was goin to jury duty and the battery in the unit was dying and the cord was in the other car. It looks like the phone charger fried my good ole friend the 750 when I plugged it into the USB port.
Probably a dumb question, but is their a capacitor or diode or some other part that might have thrown down its life to save my GPS on the USB port - any point opening it up an having a look or it should I just toss this?

oh well

she was a good girl - it looks like its going into the electronic recylcing bin. We had a good run...

rest in peace.

Possibilities

Might be a regulator. I'd throw a couple of bucks your way to get it if it is going to be tossed. I can always disassemble it to look around inside.
