The iRadar, which can be connected to smart phones, alerts drivers to the presence of police radar and red-light cameras.

.
I already have a gadget to do that. It's called my brain...

Situational awareness--
It's all about situational awareness -- being aware of your environment and responsive to changes in it.
If you have (and use) a radar detector, you know that you need to leave the sucker on all the time -- that way you learn the patterns in your area, and learn to recognize deviations in those patterns (such as speed traps).
The camera POIs we have are also a great asset. You learn to pick up those warnings and deal with them.
(And the last ticket I got wasn't from radar, or a camera -- it was from the Mark I Eyeball -- and now I'm aware of another hiding place.)

Hmmm... unclear what signals might be uniquely associated with red-light cameras.

Have One?
Does anyone have the iradar? Cobra is coming out with an app for Android. Might give it a try.

There may be a problem
Looks like combination of POI files for gps with radar detector. So far we have half of its functionality within ours gps devices . But there may be a problem with radar detecting part. It may be illegal to have police radar detector in car in some places, so it may lead to troubles with police.
And I never heard about people installing police radar detector to keep their speed inside limits. It was usually the other way around, to speed and be warned to slow down when police presence was detected. After all, if you don't exceed posted speed limit there is almost no chance that cop will stop you for speeding. And even if he does, radar detector won't do any good to prove to him that you are not guilty. It usually makes mater worse, when you tell him, that thing on your dashboard is radar detector
