display POI text on screen

I have been able to create a CSV file Load in to navi 1260 and display an icon on the screen at the locations.
The next thing I want do is display the name on the screen. Is there some sort of code for that?

If you mean next to the POI,

If you mean next to the POI, sort of.

On older GPS units, the POI's name appears in the banner bar. Later units have a pop-up on the map screen with the same information. To the best of my knowledge, neither will display right next to the icon.

What you want to do can't be done with a CSV file but may be possible with a GPX.

Using the GPX format you can display a symbol and the name. I've heard POI Loader doesn't pass that information on but I haven't done any real testing to see if it can be done.

The short answer is no. My 750 displays the info in the third field of a CSV file on a drop-down below the banner bar at the top of the screen. But it truncates the text to one line. It will not display anything except the icon on the screen with the map.

You might consider using the .GPX format. You still won't be able to display anything else on the map screen but you will have the option of a "More" tab at the bottom. Touch this and it displays another screen that list extra info you have entered in the file. You need something more than a text editor to create .GPX files, do an Internet search to find more info and programs.

Download a GPX file from the site here and try it out.

No need for a google search. One of our very own members, TurboCCC, created a free program which allows you to create/edit gpx files. http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor

Thanks

Thanks Streph
As you said it displays on the screen in a banner bar. thats good enough for me
