Richmond Va to Harrisburg PA
After we go by Washington and take I270, 4 different times my Garmin 765 and also Map Source want me to take I270 Local to the right. This just slows us down. All we have to do is stay on I270 witch eventually brings us to 15.
To who should i report the error, Garmin or Navtech
Ps: Try it in MapSource and at line 16 to 20 you will see the error.
Thanks
Ron

Mapping error
Thanks Charles I have reported error

You Are Absolutely Correct
...as to the routing. But not necessarily that it is an error. A GPSr can't see, can't drive a route, and doesn't possess artificial intelligence.
The way I see it, I270 Local is a curve inside I270N's curve. That would make it a shorter route and also a faster route. Knowing what you know just stay on I270N and let those unfamiliar with the area and nuances drive I270Local. Everyone will arive happily barring unfortunate circumstances.
"It's not where you start, but where you end up." Where am I and what am I doing in this hand basket?

I had one I reported that when on the same road of travel the business was located.A straight shot. Two blocks before getting to it gps had me take right turn and loop around the road and come back in from opposite direction. That was surely a mapping problem.Road been there for years.

Has anyone ever had any success reporting any map errors? I have reported multiple errors and they still exist in updated maps.

I did. I reported a problem to NAVTEQ on routing an auto through a foot bridge and it showed up as a correction in about 2 years.
I saw Google Maps out filming in my neighborhood last week. Getting the Street View I suppose.
I am not sure that this
I am not sure that this would be considered an error. My Garmin likes to take routes that often don't make sense to me. It will take me through three turns when I could just go straight and get to the same point. In its algorithm to calculate the route for distance and time it must decide that this obtuse route is faster by seconds - so that is the way it goes. The GPS does not consider the number of traffic lights, the time it takes to wait to make turns, etc. So the result is often not the "common" (or logical) route.

.
It's often 6 of one, half dozen of the other. If I know which way I prefer, I ignore the GPS' "wrong" route. If I'm familiar with an area I'll usually go the best way that I know. The GPS is just my dynamic paper map for occasional glances. Or if I need to get off my route for some reason, the GPS is pretty good at getting me back on track from unfamiliar streets.

..
And I thought it was just my nuvi
I drive I270 fairly frequently and noticed the 'quirk' but have always just stayed in the main lanes since I know the area. It happens both northbound & southbound.
The 'inside curve' theory seems to make the most sense now that it's been mentioned. Thanks.
It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.
