OK, this is what i would like to do !
would like to find a way to root my Garminfone A50, so that i can place Froyo on it. does anyone have exp. doing this and know of where i could get the needed apps and rom to do this!

hmm

I know a Garmin tech, has a rooted Garminfone with Froyo on it... but he wont spill the beans on how, where he got the rom

Hmmm.... Maybe take him out drinking, get him really plastered, borrow his phone for a few minutes and start copying!!

Garmin A50 and Tmobile Garminfone are the same device

... and so far, I have not found a third party ROM. I did contact Garmin, and they agreed it might be possible to load new Android OSes, but that one would lose the Garmin GPS Application function, as the applications are not provided separately.

I have tried running alternative Nav software on the Garminfone, but nothing seems to install properly.

since they released the rom dump and a recovery can be flashed...can someone try making a gingerbread rom..i dont really know where to start.

Very easy. Just use z4root.

just use z4Root to root your device smile lets please work on a rom for this phone!
