Cannot get Blueridge Parkway and Skyline Drive.gpx.htl to work on Garmin 3790LMT

Cannot get Blueridge Parkway and Skyline Drive.gpx.htl to work on Garmin 3790LMT. I load it into my POIs with loader but nothing is there.

I tried opening the file (I am a Mac user) to look at it but it looks very different than my regular .cvs files.

What am I doing wrong??

We are planning on doing this trip in April and this would have been a godsend for us but??

Please help!

File name

There should not be a .htl in the file name. Rename the file so it ends in .gpx (remove the .htl), then run POI Loader again.

Where did you get it?

I agree with AlandB that the .htl extension will not be read by POILoader. It wants .csv or .gpx files.

My question is where did this file come from? That would help us understand how to keep this from happening to you again.

I created a POI file

For the parkway that is on this site and it works fine.

Yes it is the one from this

Yes it is the one from this site.

I tried with and without the htl and no luck.

What am I doing wrong??

There are 2 Blue Ridge Pkwy POI files on this site

... mine is not a gpx file, and does not include the Skyline drive. It works fine. Ask the creator of the other file what's wrong with his data, I have no idea.

File names

Here are the 2 filenames I found on this site

Skyline_drive_to_end_of_BRP.gpx
Blue-Ridge-Parkway.csv

Sounds like you have the 1st file which is a gpx file and will not look like the csv files you have. I don't know anything about a mac but I have to imagine that youe POI Loader handles gpx files as well as csv files.

Just a thought. Try downloading the 2nd file if you are comfortable with csv files. It has 92 POIs where the gpx file has 34 POIs.

THE GPX Version

I loaded it into Mapsource successfully. The waypoints need to be adjusted somewhat to force the routing to stay on the BRP. Then it loads into my 1490t OK. Unfortunately my 1490t recalculates the 607 mile route to 1240 miles due to backtracking.
