Canada Speed Camera refunds

I read that Calgary is now having doubts about their speed on green cameras based on Edmonton's plight.

Interesting read. I'm wondering how the insurance companies are going to react as speeding fines sometimes result in amended insurance rates/premiums. Bet the Companies aren't going to refund the overpaid premiums (Is Alberta going to cover these costs?)

The fallout could get bigger than simply refunding the money due to the error. Great fodder for a legal action methinks!

The insurance rates and premiums can not go up because the camera can not prove who was driving. These tickets are like the photo radar and stop light camera tickets and are strictly a cash grab with no impact to your insurance longer term...

You make a good point; however, when one pays the ticket, I do believe a name is required....but I could be wrong!

Obviously if a name is provided and the individual accepts the "fine"does that not give the insurer the right to ädjust" the premiums?

I was caught in a speed on green camera in Calgary last year. Fought it, lost. Got a reduced fine though. Paid the fine and nothing was reported to my insurance company. The speed and intersection cameras are not enforced with insurance, as was posted earlier, the photo can't tell who is driving, and the insurance covers the driver, the ticket is for the vehicle; doesn't matter who pays it.
