Updating POIs , while saving existing POI

Is there a way, using POI Loader on a Garming 1490 LMT, to update POIs without losing any existing POIs?
If they must be replaced, is there a way to back them up, and reintroduce them upon updating?

Thanks!

There are a couple ways. The most common is to keep all the files in a folder such as "My POIs". You can then add updated files (pois) to the folder. When you use POI loader you point it to the "My POIs" folder. POI loader will create a new poi.gpi for all the files each time you do this.

nope

One way and one way only, you don't loose anything you just continuously overwrite the existing ones in the unit every time POI loader is run.

You can use the renaming

You can use the renaming method. The POI Loader creates an output poi.gpi file each time it runs. You can rename it such as Cracker Barrel.gpi. The next poi.gpi file can be renamed to something else such as Rest Area.gpi. I have a large work file that I leave poi.gpi. I rename my alert files because I do not update them often.

The nuvi poi folder looks like:
poi.gpi
Cracker Barrel.gpi
Rest Area.gpi
...

You can search to get more info or post another question.

Not a problem....

Just back up the poi folder on your hard drive to a disc if you are concerned. Just add the new poi to your poi folder and it will be added when you update the GPS....I have never had any problems or lost anything....

Upgrade POI Loader for Windows to version 2.6.0.0

If you use POI Loader 2.6.0.0, you can actually give a name of the POI you are loading instead of been automatically assigned a file name as poi.gpi. Next time, when you are loading additional POI, give a different name and your old POI would remain untouched.

Cool.

Thanks all for the suggestions !
