Economy hitting hard

The Economy must be taking a bite out of businesses since now the Flying J's are charging RV owners $10.00 to dump their tanks. This service has been free for more than 10 years.

Gas prices

And with the gas prices going up, things are not going to get any better either.

Here in the Peoples Republic

Here in the Peoples Republic of Illinois, they just jacked our income tax up from 3% to 5%..and corp tax from 4.8 percent to 7 percent.

And of course it was done in true dem fashion...in the 11th hour just before new members are sworn in.
It was a party line vote. No republicans voted for it.

At least its good for indiana and wisconson. They are already giddy over all the new businesses that will move out of IL to their states.

Quote:
"Years ago Wisconsin had a tourism advertising campaign targeted to Illinois with the motto, `Escape to Wisconsin,'" Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said in a statement. "Today we renew that call to Illinois businesses, `Escape to Wisconsin.' You are welcome here."

Of course they will 'expect' more revenue.
And..of course..they wont get it. (See NY's expectations).
But this is simple economics..something we NEVER expect our commie leaders to understand.

Yes..I live in a state full of retards.

When the union contract comes up at Caterpillar, I'm thinking the company will ask the union for concessions to make up for the new taxes.

Agreed.

Which will have the opposite effect. Caterpillar will have to consider closing the plant, putting those Ill. citizens out of jobs. Which will reduce the taxable income three fold. One for the lost business, one for the lost wage earner, one for the products that wage earner won't be able to purchase.

I can't believe they are considering this!

Hey!

I like to think of it as the State Of Chicago!!!

The scumbags that the people of Cook County keep electing to office for the entire state is hard to understand!

It's not the state though dood, it's the idiots of Crook County. Brady won every county except for Cook!!

And they will elect the same

And they will elect the same crooks at the next election. Illinois leads the pack on the list of most corrupt. We end up paying for the criminal activity with increased taxes. What other state has had 2 governors convicted? If I wasn't nearing retirement and in no mood to move and start over I would be out of IL in a heartbeat. To top it all off we don't even have concealed carrry to protect ourselves.

One or two days ago on the Today show, Mitch Daniels the Governor of neighboring Indiana was asked to comment about the increase in taxes in Illinois, part of his reply was, "It's like living next door to the Simpsons."

Got a kick out of that one !

Illinois Taxes

I guess you're living in the right place then.

Why is it that the far right always shouts communism or socialism when referring to government? Do you really understand the difference between representative democracy and other forms of government?

Politicians of both parties are guilty of these indebtednesses. I retired from a major Illinois business just as they announced that they would not have a pension plan for new employees, just a 401K. How long do you think the state will go before a similar realization that we can't afford it for state employees and teachers either. Mismanagement by politicians, all looking to please the most voters so they can keep their jobs, causes them to make decisions that are not fisically sound. The Repug's chant all about cutting spending, but watch them in action. They're no better than the Democrats at not trying to please all the people all the time.

We wouldn't even be discussing this if Wall Street regulations were not removed. Which party did that boner? Now with NAFTA and other skewed "free trade" that benefits China and not us and offshore outsourcing we don't make most things here anymore. Recovery will be very difficult no matter which party you support.

Zumo 550 & Zumo 665 My alarm clock is sunshine on chrome.

Actually

Flying J started charging for the dump service before the merger, citing rising costs and abuse (not cleaning up after themselves) by some customers using the free service.

I have a Flying J RV Loyalty card that i have had for years and after the merger i can use it to get a 50% discount on the Dump service and also a $.02 discount on my gas. My card is now honored at both Flying J and pilot.
