nuMaps Lifetime updates price watch

MegaGPS Coupon Code for $5.00 Off.

I just ordered 3 of the lifetime cards from MegaGPS as they seemed to have the best price.

I thought that that MacMall was a dollar cheaper, BUT, you have to apply for a stinkin' rebate for the free shipping. So it's a lot more of a hassle than it's worth for a $1.00 difference.

But it ended up NOT being $1.00 more since I found this coupon code on the internet for $5.00 Off at MegaGps on a $40 or more purchase.

When you place your order with MegaGps there is a section on the order form to apply coupon codes. Just enter this number: 567715 and make sure you hit the "apply" button. All three of my cards cost me a total of $294.97 using the code. Free shipping and NO tax !

Only bad part is that they claim to have ran out of the cards today and don't expect more in stock for about a week. I can wait.

I ordered mine from Amazon when they were first offered and backordered at a total price of $107.99 but my shipping estimate is mid-March. I've watched Amazon's price since I ordered my copy and see that the price from Amazon directly with Free Shipping has been through at least two pricing adjustments since first offered at 108. For the patient, it may be worth monitoring Amazon's price for a few months and buy when low.

I looked at Amazon and their price was even HIGHER than the retail price directly from Garmin. Amazon was selling it for $123 today. Still free shipping.

That's one of the problems with Amazon, that they change their prices all the time. Sometimes even several times in one day.

And now that they have stopped their 30 day price guarantee, I stopped buying from them.

I would think that the price will fluctuate all over the place.... just be patient and get the best price you can. But if you keep waiting, you'll miss updates. I did not want to wait.

I got an email from MegaGPS saying they expect shipment in a week.

Good news bad news

The good news: Amazon now has the lifetime maps in stock and is shipping them (most likely UPS Ground from Indiana).

The bad news: the Amazon price today is $122.15

Luckily, I ordered a copy from Amazon when first offered [and backordered] at $108 and my copy should arrive UPS next Wednesday. It's time to schedule some serious internet download time.

Lifetime Maps Price Watch

I just checked today and see that the price at MegaGPS has gone up by $10 to $109.99.

Looks like Amazon has

Looks like Amazon has lowered the price to $98.98 with free shipping.

I'm not sure where you got this idea, but no, no one is offering lifetime maps at no added cost.

So what is it?

Once you purchase the Lifetime Map updates for your eligible Garmin GPS unit, you will get map updates as often as 4 times per year for the life of THAT GPS UNIT at no additional charge as long as the map data remains available.

The maps are not transferable to another GPS unit except under a very small set of circumstances such as the unit being replaced under warranty.

Lifetime Updates

Hi,

Guess its time to look at getting the lifetime update for my 8800.

I think if you send a unit in for repair and Garmin sends a refurb, the maps will transfer. The key item is it's Garmin issuing the unit.

What about this price?

I would have bought there it

I would have bought there it if I knew about it before. It seems genuine to me. I double check the code; you would save $24.00. and if you then once received it follow the steps I outlined in one of my previous posts about upgrading your maps, I think you will be fine.

I've never done business with their website, but their stores are nice and have been good to deal with. They have mulitple locations here in NJ and have started to build a decent reputation. The death of Circuit City should help these guys ...

Lifetime Mapping Update

Be sure to sign up for the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals on www.Garmin.com to see how low these prices will get. It could be worth it.

I bought from Electronics Expo - they were very timely and responsive with shipping my order.

I would buy again.

Since there is no rush to buy, put it in your Amazon shopping cart but don't buy - save for later. Every time you login to your amazon account it will tell you the current price. They drop the price and you just have to find it at the right time.

Old post.

Of course you are quoting a post that is almost 2 years old ... written just a few weeks after NuMaps Lifetime was announced by Garmin. I bought it directly from Garmin when they first had it for sale and paid the full $119.99. It demonstrates how much the lifetime subscription has come down since it was first introduced.
