It quit snowing Friday evening here

And left a foot. Less than a week before, we had a blizzard - 9" plus winds...

Won't be watching Networks or any of the news channels because they'll all be having stormgasms over weather the rest of the country gets routinely and they never report...

We are in the target zone..

I'm in the Worcester hills. We are expecting about 24 inches. I drove home during the Blizzard of '78.
Weather reports are saying this one will be similar, only difference is this time, we have been forewarned.

So far we've had an early morning dusting. No snow, but I'm watching the Patriot's post game show in Foxboro and it's snowing there. Won't be long before it starts here.

By the way...the Patriots had a big win.

Clear and sunny in New Mexico today

and for most of the coming week. I lived in northern Canada for a winter (-48 F) and Alaska for 4 years. Think I'll stay where I am for a while.

Lots of Snow

Just drove from Cape Cod to Connecticut. Usually takes 2:45, took just over 5 hrs due to the snow storm. Very windy.

The Subaru AWD did just fine.

Drove in blizzard

I drove 22 miles home from work this evening in the blizzard on I-495. It took an hour and a half. Everything went okay until I got stuck in front of my house and had to dig out.

dobs108 - Long Island

Not So Much Here

We were expecting 8 to 12 inches today here on the DELMARVA peninsula, but so far only about 3 inches have fallen in the north-central area. And I'm not going anywhere I don't have to.

good thing I'm sick and not moving out of home anywhere ... though tomorrow may need to drive wifey and cat for a vet appointment (if they open up).

I thought I was going to miss the "fun", but the storm shifted and instead of only getting 3" we are facing a full blizzard now. I'm sitting in front of the TV, watching LOTR in TNT.

Sunny and Clear

here in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona. Should hit about 70 degrees today. Used to live in NJ though, so I know exactly what that weather feels like.

Could Be Worse

19 degrees, about 9" of snow on the ground, 35 miles south of Chicago. Last snow fall was Christmas Eve.
Missed all the lake effect snow that hit Chicago yesterday. Hooray.
Spring can't get here fast enough for me.
Hope everyone had a GREAT Christmas.

What storm?

Drove from Iowa to Queen Creek AZ to spend Christmas with the children and grandchildren. Was 70. Yesterday drove to LA but had to turn off the traffic on my Garmin because of a 25 mile traffic jam of people leaving LA going opposite of me. It will be 60 today. Will return Friday

I got stranded in the blizzard of '78. Stayed overnight at a neighbor's farmhouse and caught a ride home the next day on a county snowplow.

After the 3-day driving ban, I was able to get back to my car and shovel it out. sad

Please check a dictionary. I am looking at the American Heritage Dictionary. "Grey" is a proper variant spelling of the word "gray." Neither spelling is considered incorrect. I would be surprised if you could find an American English dictionary which said otherwise.

And if we're counting, and neither of us should be, because commenting on the spelling and grammar of other posters is considered a violation of general Internet forum netiquette, his post had fewer spelling PLUS grammatical errors than your post.

This should be a place where anyone should feel safe posting. No one should be corrected on their spelling or grammar in this forum.

We are a community of different people from all sorts of backgrounds. Some of us have better spelling then others. If it were not for fire fox you guys would be correcting my spelling.

I find this type of behavior a bit petty and don't want to see it in this community.

I wasn.t asking for a critique from him about my last trip ethier, but he gave one.And if you are going to talk about a place talk about a real place, yes I am picky about St.Petersburg I am a fifth generation Floridian and we have (Tax payers) have spent a lot of money on a stadium in St.Petersburg,to promote St.Petersburg not a place that doesn't exist.By the way I didn't ask for your critique of my critique.

They can go anywhere, they just can't stop everywhere shock

I live a few blocks from dobs108. Fortunately, I didn't have to go out in the weather last night. This morning, my neighbor and I tag-teamed our driveways with his big, honkin' snowblower, so it wasn't too much work. It was strange, though - with all the wind, there were spots where I could see the grass in the yard, just a few feet away from 3+ foot drifts.

Last year Houston was so afraid of an impending "snowstorm" on an early December Friday, that they closed the schools in anticipation on Thursday. When the "snowstorm" hit, colleagues of mine who work in Houston were able to build a snowman about 4" tall out of it!

The funniest part was I was in Chicago at the time flying into Houston. Chicago already had maybe half a foot of snow on the ground, operating as normal, but my flight was in danger of being delayed or cancelled due to the less than 1" of snow expected in Houston!
