My Recent Trip

I just took a trip from Cleveland Texas with a stop over in the Texas panhandle town of Childress Texas, then on to Colorado Springs Colorado for my mothers 90th birthday (December 18th).Then coming back,we stopped along the way in a town called Electra, who celebrated their 100th birthday in 2007.Talk about small towns(Electra),we wanted to see what was in a closed antique store but it was closed as I said, any way they had a sign on their door that read if you want to browse in this store go across the street and get the keys from the Antique Emporium,I couldn't believe it.We went to the Antique Emporium and looked in their shop and forgot about going to the other store. Then we stopped for the night back in Childress Texas and then the next day back to Cleveland Texas. My girl friend insisted on using her AAA trip tic .Thank goodness for my Garmin because we got lost a few times and the Garmin told us exactly where we were.Even after the mistakes my girlfriend still insisted on using the trip tic.We made it back ok but no more trip tics I hope.

AAA?

Trip tic is so 20th century, tell her she needs to get with the times, next when you go on a boat she will want to use a sextant.

You are correct, she won't get on a boat so no worries there.

On my journey to Pittsburgh

On my journey to Pittsburgh from Charlottesville, I started off on I-64 W and continued my journey on I-81 N. While I was on I-81 my GPS started telling me to turn and get on Highway 33. I needed gas so I pulled off and filled up the truck. The GPS showed me if I took this new route I would travel 45 miles less than the route I intended to take. So I decided to go for it. An hour and a half later I am at what seems to be the highest mountain in West Virginia. The road, which wraps around the mountain in an upward spiral, was completely covered in snow and visibility had decreased greatly. Now moving at the speed of smell, I realized that I had chosen the incorrect route. What should have been a five hour trip, quickly turned into eight. So here is some advice to all of you that have a GPS navigation system: if it is more than a year old check to see if you can update it. Roads that were in the process of being built or a bypass that was just opened will probably not be on your GPS.

Very good advice.

Very good advice.
