There are a few of us in the area, not sure who's actually in the 'metro' area (inside DC proper) but I think there are at least a couple. I'm in suburban MD just a bit north-northeast.
Let me know if I can help with anything.
-- It's about the Line-
If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.
but I haven't lived there for a number of decades. Still consider it home on some level, and get back to visit D.C. when I can, including this upcoming Spring.
I am trying to work on custom POIs for the speed and red light cameras. I haven't been able to download the poi from this site (yet), so i was tinkering with making my own from the publicly available info.
Do you guys use the redlight/speed camera poi from this site and find it accurate?
if not, do you have your own? do you want to collaborate or use this one I've started? my file has more than there really are
for example, it has all the mobile locations in rockville even though they only have 2 mobile cameras and rotate them. MOntgomery country has a map that can be exported to kml, so I used that too; and have more locations than there really are I think in Chevy Chase, based on their website.
I downloaded one for DC but it seems wildly inaccurate to me, unless I just can't find those cameras!
I lived in Dale City, VA for 4 years and, twenty years on, I don't reconise the place any longer. Good Lord, all the new roadways that have done nothing to alleviate the traffic.
nuvinooby..
I'd just wait until you can download the one from this site if I were you. It's VERY complete & accurate for this area and probably everyplace else, too!
Miss POI does an excellent job in double checking the entries, and pretty much every one of them is a submission and/or a confirmation by us locals. I don't think you'll find a better listing.
I have a file of just the M.C. mobile locations. If you want a copy shoot me an email. It's mainly just the county mobiles as I recall, might not show oddball mobiles like Chevy Chase, GBurg city spots, etc. I think I put it together from the M.C. kml file a few months back. I limited it to only mobiles and would suggest you do the same, because everything else is in the site's file. I think it even has a couple of mobile locations near schools, even though Miss POI wants to keep the file mainly for fixed locations.

I also have a couple of restaurant and asian groceries one that I got from a public google maps source that I converted to tomton, I hope it would be ok to share them.
