Garmin Language Guide stops working after firmware upgrade to 4.0 on 765T

Nuvi 765T. FW upgrade to 4.0 fixed typing delay. But Language Guide no longer speaks. I seem to remember someone else had posted similiar problem. But after searching for quite a while, I cannot find that post.

Anyway, does anyone know of a fix for this?

.

The thread is here: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/29823

No fix as of yet, the last I recall.

thanks.

I wonder if I should downgrade to a previous FW?

Not unless you want the problems of 3.9 again. Maybe 3.6? Myself, I can live without the Guide though.

Direct link to v3.90:

http://www.garmin.com/software/nuvi7x5_regionfileonly__390.g...

To install, drag the downloaded file to the WebUpdater icon on your desktop with the nuvi connected to the PC. After the file transfer to the nuvi, safely disconnect the nuvi from the PC and power-cycle it. You'll be asked if you're sure you want to flash the older version...touch "Yes" and the nuvi should proceed to flash v3.90 to itself.

Note that you'll lose all user settings. Also be sure to backup your favorites beforehand if you have not already done so so you can restore them to the unit after flashing as they will be deleted from the unit.

If you do decide to downgrade, be careful how low you go. 3.90 was garbage but if it is the version that shipped with your 765T you may not be able to downgrade to 3.60. Garmin changed the CPU on the 7x5 series and the newer version does not work with firmware before the internally released 3.8x. If you load 3.60 on it, it may brick it.

Thanks for that info.

I contacted Garmin support and I was told that it is not possible to downgrade to v3.6. Guess I am stuck.
