re-installed Windows, no more MapSource

Hi people,

I have a simple (to you) problem, but cannot get past that. Recently I have abandoned my old good Vista (montrosity) for newer and faster Windows 7 and want to get all aps as I had them before on my PC.

Namely, I had formerly a MapSource application on my PC with exactly same maps as on my GPS (nuvi 275T), that was a year ago. Now after recent update I noticed that maps did NOT get updated on PC (then I swapped operating systems on PC)... so now the real question - how do I download full MapSource application from Garmin and how do I install my current maps into it?

thanks.

P.S. what is BaseCamp for?

thanks! I haven't thought of that. need to setup browser for MyGarmin, haven't done that yet.

yes, i have lifetime updates on US maps (my device also has EU maps).

will re-downloading latest map update install the MapSource app from scratch too? or I need to have it already installed in first place?

I have just ran through my Garmin retail box and seems there was a CD in it, but I have misplaced it ... I bet MapSource install file was on it ...

First off do you still have the files on the windows vista computer or did you make a backup file or disk?
If you did just try to re run it.If you dont have a back up and the download from garmin is over a year old it will have expired to re download. If you call garmin and explain what happened they will reset your experation date so you can download it again.

thanks for the link

nah, i deleted those files by now. backed up only my personal and important (sigh) stuff, i didn't care about things I can re-download later.

good thing is that myGarmin let me re-download the MapUpdater (2.5.14 which I used for latest US 2011.30 update recently), so I will be re-running it soon, this time will look for option to install maps on PC as well.

Install Options is what I missed last time

OK, got it rolling to PC only now. Last time I used MapUpdater I missed the Install Options button in bottom left corner of Map Updater screen. now clicked it and chose to update PC only.

thanks guys!

i'll be back if I run into another trouble wink

Ain't nuthin' never just right to do the things you wanna do when you wanna do them, so you best just go ahead and do them anyway ! (Rancid Crabtree, from Pat F McManus fame)

hehe good one

I wish POI factory had email notification system, I would check back more often this way. Anyways Account - Track works too to see which threads have new replies.

as per topic, all worked well, no trouble encountered smile
I have both EU an US maps on my PC now and all works great with Mapsource.

my only regret is that my Garmin nuvi 275T doesn't support custom routing, but I can still use MapSource to see what route (more or less) my GPS would choose and I can create and transfer Waypoints to/from device which helps too.
