Expectations
Not exactly sure what you expect. The screen is blurry; there is no focus control like ancient TV's. More than likely, the LCD is damaged. Choices are to: 1) send it back to Garmin and pay a repair price beyond what it would cost for a new device. 2) Go on eBay and look for a new LCD and replace it yourself. C320, C330, C340 LCD's may be compatible and sell for around $27. 3) Buy a new GPS and sell the broken one on eBay for parts.

I currently use a Nuvi 765T but also have a C550 that was my previous unit. I too would hate to see it damaged as it is still a good unit. However, the widescreen Nuvi's are quite impressive and the prices this weekend are pretty good. It may be a good time to pick up a new one. Also, your C580 uses MSN Direct, which is shutting down in just over a year so it would also be a good opportunity to get a new unit with an RDS based traffic receiver.
