Broken sentences

I have had my nuvi 1450 about 5 months now. Recently it has started to break sentences. If I get a voice alert and an instruction at the same time, it will give the instruction priority and break the alert. That is the way it should be, so that is not what I'm talking about.

My problem is at random times, an alert or instruction will break-up mid sentence. This happens maybe 30 percent of the time.
Anyone else have this problem?

broken sentences

My first thought would be to check how much free space I have on the nuvi. Delete any *unused* files such as voices, vehicles, text, kb, eula and help files. Also you can safely delete Gupdate.gcd in the .system folder too.

If that doesn't fix it, I suggest a hard reset. Failing that, I have no other suggestions.

I haven't had any problems

I've had my 1450 about five months, too, and I haven't had such a problem. Don't even have any suggestions.

Thanks speedlever, I will try your suggestions.
Might not be able to get back to you as fast as your responce to me.
Not enough days in each hour.

Seldom

I have seldom, if ever, heard the broken sentence on the alert but I have had a pause or quick repeat of either the driving instruction or the alert. This seems to occur in a congested area only.

One other basic thing that you should check first... is your firmware updated to the latest version?

Many thanks to everyone The responses here are fast and helpful.

My firmware was and is up to date.

I deleted some files and now have 235mb free.
Took it on a few errands yesterday and all seems well.

I did not delete Gupdate.gcd but may in future due to map and firmware updates.

Can anyone tell me what Gupdate.gcd does?

Many thanks once again.

I believe it permits reinstallation of your latest firmware without the computer

Gupdate.GCD

From a post by FreeBird on gpspassion:
"The GUPDATE.GCD file is the file used to update the firmware. Before the release of 3.60 (Nüvi 300/350) this file was automatically deleted after the firmware upgrade procedure. Since Rel. 3.60 this file will be kept on the Nüvi (That is probably what Garmin means with "Changed to make update procedure consistent with other GARMIN products" from the changelog).

It does not matter much if you back this file up or not. It will be changed anyway as soon as you update to a new firmware and it is not used for normal operation of the Nüvi."

Had same.

The cause of the interupted warning is that the navigation voice has priority over the redlight camera warning. The conflict occurs when the set distance of the warning happens when the navigation voice is being activated. I've noticed that it's about 400 feet, as I've been adjusting the alert distance when I load the POI. 600 to 750 feet gives me the alert before the navigation info is presented on a selected route. I've found the preset alert distance is to far, as I want the info just before the redlight. This weeks install will go from 400 to 600 to get rid of the voice interuptions. Also, when you use the preset distance, the side street redlight warnings occur when you on a freeway and no where near the redlight camera.

Reread

I reread your comment and have you tried reloading/updating the voice files? I had a reboot problem that was caused by the voice files being corrupt and a reload/update was Garmins solution to the problem.
